POSITION OVERVIEW

The People Development Specialist is responsible for driving employee growth and organizational effectiveness through targeted training programs. This role focuses on delivering New Hire Onboarding, Skills Improvement, and Leadership Development, while also conducting needs analysis to align training with business objectives. By collaborating with stakeholders and leveraging innovative instructional techniques, the specialist ensures that training initiatives are relevant, impactful, and conducive to a culture of continuous learning and leadership excellence.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

New Hire Training
  • Facilitate comprehensive onboarding programs to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions that cover essential skills, company policies, and cultural orientation for new employees.
  • Assess the effectiveness of onboarding programs through feedback and performance metrics, utilizing structured evaluation methods to make necessary adjustments and improve outcomes.
Skills Improvement Training
  • Conduct training sessions aimed at enhancing the technical, soft, and operational skills of existing employees.
  • Design and implement continuous learning opportunities, applying proven instructional methods to address the evolving skill requirements of different departments.
  • Monitor training progress and provide individualized support, ensuring skill acquisition and application in the workplace.
Leadership Training
  • Develop and deliver leadership development programs that prepare high-potential employees for leadership roles.
  • Utilize advanced instructional techniques to build essential leadership competencies, including decision-making, team management, and strategic thinking.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of leadership programs by tracking participant progress and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Apply supplementary knowledge from frameworks like Darwin’s 6 Boxes to enhance the design and delivery of leadership training.
Training Needs Analysis
  • Collaborate with department heads and managers to identify specific training needs related to job performance, skills gaps, and career development.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments using surveys, interviews, focus groups, and performance data to determine training requirements.
  • Analyze training needs to prioritize initiatives that align with organizational goals and employee development plans.
Design and Development of Training Programs
  • Create targeted training programs based on identified needs, applying systematic frameworks to ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Design curriculum and instructional materials, incorporating various learning methodologies to cater to different learning styles and applying foundational principles of adult learning.
  • Update and refine training content regularly to keep it relevant, engaging, and impactful.
Evaluation and Improvement
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, performance metrics, and post-training assessments, using structured evaluation models for comprehensive analysis.
  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions on revising and enhancing instructional materials and delivery methods.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in instructional design, integrating innovative techniques into training programs.
Employee Mentoring and Competence Development
  • Provide mentoring to employees, guiding them through their professional development and enhancing their competence in key areas.
  • Develop and implement programs that focus on building competencies that align with both individual career paths and organizational needs.
  • Monitor the progress of mentees and provide ongoing feedback to support their development and success.
Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and prioritize training objectives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Manage the scheduling and logistics of training sessions, ensuring smooth execution and optimal participant engagement.
  • Oversee the maintenance and updating of the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) to track training participation and progress.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and consultants as needed to supplement in-house training resources.
Additional Duties
  • Accomplishes other tasks as may be assigned  by the immediate supervisor/manager
  • Recommends and proactively implements opportunities for increased departmental efficiency.

WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Training, Behavioral Science, Human Resource Management or any equivalent degree.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role or capacity.
  • Training Facilitation and Instructional Design
  • ADDIE Model.
  • Training Curriculum Creation.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound decision making and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Highly organized and reliable.
