POSITION OVERVIEW

The Payroll Accountant is accountable for overseeing every stage of the company's semi-monthly payroll cycle or processing. He/She is responsible for guaranteeing the accuracy and timely distribution of employee payments, while also adhering to relevant governmental laws and regulations. This role necessitates extensive expertise in payroll accounting, as well as comprehensive knowledge of mandatory government benefits, taxes, and other required payments.

Additionally, the Payroll Accountant handles and resolves technical inquiries regarding payroll policies and procedures, adjustments, overtime, separation pay, and similar matters. He/She also prepares confidential payroll data for audits to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Payroll Processing
  • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end payroll process, including data collection, timekeeping, payroll calculations, and accurate disbursement of employee salaries and benefits.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding payroll processing, tax deductions, and government-mandated benefits.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to relevant government agencies accurately and within prescribed deadlines.
  • Prepare and process BIR tax annualization.
Benefits Administration
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other mandatory benefits.
  • Ensure accurate deductions, contributions, and remittances in accordance with legal requirements.
Payroll Accounting
  • Oversee payroll accounting activities, such as reconciling payroll data, preparing journal entries, and conducting payroll audits.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate recording and reporting of payroll expenses.
  • Prepare and compile payroll reports.
Systems Management 
  • Implement and maintain payroll systems and software, ensuring functionality, data integrity, and process efficiency.
  • Identify areas for improvement and automation to streamline payroll processes.
Employee Support
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing prompt and accurate resolutions.
  • Assist employees with understanding their pay, deductions, and benefits, ensuring clear communication and excellent customer service.
Continuous Improvement
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation, taxation, and benefits regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and controls, driving continuous improvement in payroll operations.
Ad Hoc Tasks
  • Performs other payroll-related work of a similar nature and level.

WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE?

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and government-mandated benefits.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and payroll best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to employees.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information.

Shift Schedule

  • Monday to Friday (10:00AM to 7:00PM).
  • Subject to change depending on business needs.
